The Young Artists Programme offers a range of FREE weekly arts activities where children and young people aged 5-25 can learn skills in music, dance, theatre, creative industries and more! 

The programme brings our Young Artists together with arts professionals from Scotland and abroad to work side-by-side on world-class projects and productions.

Wednesday Performing Arts

Wednesday Performing Arts is an after-school performing arts group, where participants explore a range of performing arts skills. This year they are working with Artist, Eoin McKenzie on an original project called, ...And it Goes Dark (working title)

Age: P3 – P5
Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Autumn/Winter Term: 21st August – 4th December 2019
Winter/Spring Term: 15th January – 5th April 2020

Thursday Performing Arts

Thursday Performing Arts is an after-school performing arts group, where participants explore a range of performing arts skills. This year they are working with Artist, David Banks on an original project, called 2050 ​(working title).

Age: P6 – P7
Day/Time: Wednesdays, 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Autumn/Winter Term: 22nd August – 5th December 2019
Winter/Spring Term: 16th January – 5th April 2020

Youth Dance

Youth Dance are group of young people who meet on Saturdays to develop dance technique, explore a range of dance styles and create their own choreography. This year they are working with Artist, Natalia Barua on an original project called, Dream Dances (working title).

Age: 8+
Saturdays, 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Autumn/Winter Term: 24th August – 7th December 2019
Winter/Spring Term: 18th January – 5th April 2020

Youth Music

Youth Music are group of young people who meet on Saturdays to learn how to play and make music. This year they are working with Artists, Luci Holland and Rachel Timney Stewart on an original project called, Project Podcast (working title).

Age: 8+
Day/Time: Saturdays, 12.30pm – 2.30pm
Autumn/Winter Term: 24th August – 7th December 2019
Winter/Spring Term: 18th January – 5th April 2020

Culture Crew

Culture Crew is a brand new project at Lyra, introducing young people to everything behind the scenes of the creative industries.

Age: 10+
Some dates and times are project dependent.

Regular meetings held on Tuesdays, 4pm – 5.30pm 
Autumn/Winter Term: 23rd August – 6th December 2019
Winter/Spring Term: 17th January – 27th March 2020

Lyra Young Company

The Young Company are an ensemble of performers with skills in theatre, music and dance. They work together collaboratively to devise contemporary performances, creating a new piece every year through a range of creative styles and tasks.
